Should I sell my house to a real estate investor? The answer is… it depends. Sometimes you can make out better by selling your house through a Realtor, and sometimes it better to sell your house to an investor, or one of those “We Buy Houses” people.
We have recently sold a couple homes for our clients who originally thought they wanted to sell their house as-is to an investor. Some people need to sell their house quickly for any number of reasons – divorce, relocation, upcoming foreclosure, death in the family, etc. If that is the case, it may make sense to sell quickly for a discounted price. In the last couple situations where we helped people, they had a little more time and were not in a desperate situation. That allowed them to consider other options like selling it through a Realtor. Fortunately, Mike O’Connell is a licensed Realtor in Virginia, so he can offer his clients multiple options when selling their home.
The fact is that most people selling their home, sell it through a real estate agent. Exposure is one of the main benefits of selling through an agent. With the houses we recently sold traditionally, we sold them quickly and as-is. Yes, you can sell your house as-is and still get all the exposure that other homes are getting, which could definitely help you get more money for your house than selling it to an investor.
You may be surprised if you knew how many people are looking in the MLS for as-is houses that they can buy at a slight discount.
If you are thinking about selling your house soon and are trying to figure out if you should sell it “traditionally”, or to an investor, please get in touch with us early in the process. We will be happy to go over all possible options so you can make an educated decision.
